An external door asks more of its hardware than an internal one. Weather, security and daily use all land on the same fitting, and the finish has to survive it.
Finish matters outside
Near the coast, specify a finish with corrosion protection. Iver's brushed gold PVD carries a lifetime guarantee against corrosion, and the chrome and nickel finishes are also protected.
Unlacquered and living finishes will patina faster outdoors, which may be exactly the look you want on a heritage door or entirely wrong on a new build.
Function
An entrance set includes a keyed lock. Back doors, garage side doors and external laundry doors all need one, and they are easy to overlook when the focus is on the front.
