Escutcheons and key hole covers in solid brass, finishing the keyhole a mortice lock leaves behind.
Fit a mortice lock and you are left with a bare hole through the door. An escutcheon covers it, protects the timber edge from key scratches, and makes the door look finished rather than drilled.
Open or covered
An open escutcheon is a simple ring around the keyhole. A covered escutcheon adds a pivoting flap that closes over the hole, which keeps draughts and dust out and looks more considered on a period door.
Matching
Match the escutcheon to the rose or backplate on the same door. A round rose lever pairs with a round escutcheon, square with square.
