Euro cylinder locks in key, thumb turn and key and turn combinations.
A euro cylinder is the lock barrel that sits inside a mortice lock body. It is the part you key, and it is replaceable without touching the rest of the hardware.
Sizing
Cylinders are sized to the door thickness and the lock case. Measure from the fixing screw at the centre to each face of the door. Too short and the key will not turn, too long and the cylinder sits proud and can be attacked.
Key or thumb turn
A key and thumb turn is the usual specification for a front door so you can lock from inside without a key, which also matters in a fire.
A double key cylinder needs a key both sides. More secure against a break in through adjacent glass, but keep a key accessible inside.
Keyed alike
If you have several external doors, keyed alike means one key opens them all. Specify it at order time, because it cannot be added later without replacing cylinders.
